let’s talk about scams!

Hi Guyssss,
I wanted to share some thoughts about something that’s unfortunately way too common these days: scams. We’ve all probably gotten weird messages, strange emails, or “amazing deals” that sounded too good to be true. And yep… sometimes they’re traps. I’ve seen people fall for them, and honestly, it can happen to anyone. So I thought I’d put together a little guide to help everyone stay safe—without getting too paranoid

How to spot a scam (most of the time)

  1. “You won something!” messages – If you didn’t enter a contest, it’s almost certainly fake.
  2. Urgency and panic tactics – Scammers often pressure you to act NOW or “everything will be gone.” That’s their trick to make you click without thinking.
  3. Requests for personal info – No legit company will ask for passwords, OTP codes, or banking info over chat or email.
  4. Strange payment requests – Gift cards, cryptocurrency, or “send to friend” payments are a huge warning sign.
  5. Weird links or files – Even if it looks official, hover over links first. If it’s suspicious, don’t click.
Scammers are dumb, and it’s easy to get caught off guard. But talking about it, sharing experiences, and being a little skeptical can go a long way. Remember: it’s better to be cautious than sorry, and there’s no shame in asking if something seems fishy.
