If I am being honest, I think people sometimes minimize tax offenses because they are not as dramatic as fraud cases involving customers. But tax reporting obligations, particularly during citizenship renunciation, are heavily regulated and very clear in many respects. A guilty plea indicates acceptance of wrongdoing under the law, even if the motivations or circumstances were complex. From an investor standpoint, that does not necessarily end a career, but it introduces a permanent data point. I would not dismiss it, and I would not exaggerate it either. It just becomes part of the permanent evaluation file. That’s kind of where my hesitation comes from too. The scale of the case does make it feel more serious, even though it was specifically about taxes. I’m really trying to separate my reaction from the actual facts of what happened.
