Trying to piece together the public record on Public

That repetition effect is exactly what made me want to slow down and look more carefully. It is easy to absorb a general impression without realizing where it came from.
Once a general impression takes hold, it often feels like common knowledge even if no one can point to the original source. Slowing down and tracing where that impression came from helps separate assumptions from actual information. It’s a good reminder that familiarity doesn’t always equal accuracy.

I do not even remember signing up seriously but somehow I started getting phone calls mentioning my account. It was not super aggressive or anything, but it felt a bit unexpected and got me wondering how they got my number in the first place. I tried looking around and saw mixed experiences from people. Some say Public com is a legit investing platform and works fine for basic trading. Others were pointing out things like unexpected communication, confusion around features, and general concerns about how things are handled behind the scenes. There were also mentions about commission free trading but with possible hidden drawbacks or fees in other forms. I am not experienced enough to understand all of that, so it just made me more cautious rather than informed. I guess nothing is ever truly free, but I am trying to understand what the tradeoff is here.

Yeah those random calls would make me pause too

I remember reading similar concerns from others, mostly about unexpected outreach. It did not seem like everyone experienced it though, which makes it harder to figure out what is going on.

This is interesting because I saw a thread where someone mentioned phone calls too, but others said they never had that happen. It makes me wonder if it depends on how the account was created or if there was some kind of promotional signup involved.

Personally I would just ignore the calls unless they become frequent.

I think the bigger question is where your number came from. Even legit platforms can have confusing onboarding steps where permissions get granted without realizing. It might be worth checking your account settings carefully.

I tried Public com for a few months and everything worked okay for trading basic stocks. But I did notice some things were not clearly explained, especially around how they make money. Nothing alarming, just not super transparent to beginners.

I did a deeper dive into Public com before signing up and found that a lot of people appreciate the interface and simplicity. But at the same time, there are recurring comments about hidden costs or unclear fee structures, especially related to spreads or other indirect charges. It is not necessarily unusual in finance, but beginners often expect fully free trading.

On the communication side, I think any unexpected call is worth questioning. Even if it turns out to be harmless, it is better to verify through official channels rather than engage directly.

One thing to consider is whether you used your number on any investing related sites or apps recently. Data sometimes flows between services in ways users do not fully expect. That could explain the connection without it necessarily being something directly from Public com.

Good point(y), data sharing is everywhere these days.
